Athletes’ Village

An Olympic heritage to discover!

Symbolizing the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games, the Athletes’ Village, straddling Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen and L’Île-Saint-Denis, is becoming a symbol of the city of tomorrow. A district that has seen some of the Games’ greatest athletes pass through its doors, and which is being transformed into a living space combining housing and green spaces. A new facet of Plaine Commune to discover, where the energy of the Games continues to vibrate!

The city of the future

Built to accommodate no fewer than 14,500 athletes during the Paris 2024 Games, the Athletes’ Village has metamorphosed several districts of Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen and L’Île-Saint-Denis, creating a brand-new, modern living space, a symbol of the urbanism of the future. After almost 4 years of intense construction work, this exceptional site was transformed into a hub for cultural and sporting exchanges between nations from all over the world.

Today, the excitement of the Games has given way to a new chapter: that of a sustainable, forward-looking district. The former athletes’ residences have been refurbished to meet the challenge of climate change, and the green spaces have been redesigned to offer a more pleasant and accessible living environment.

This far-reaching transformation is reshaping the face of this historic district, while establishing the Athletes’ Village as a living testimony to the legacy of the Games and a model of urban development for years to come.

How many meals are served per day?

During the Paris 2024 Games, the Cité du Cinéma, usually a temple of film production, was transformed into… a giant canteen for the athletes! A logistical challenge with nearly 40,000 meals a day.

An impressive record that adds to the XXL figures for the athletes’ village, a symbol of 21st-century urban planning: 6,000 new inhabitants to come, 3,200 m² of local shops, 9,000 trees and shrubs planted, 6 hectares of green spaces and 1 km of pedestrian walkway laid out on the banks of the Seine.
