Street Art Avenue

From Paris to Saint-Denis, an open-air museum!

Street art is cool. But 4km of Street Art is even better! From La Villette to the Stade de France, along the Canal Saint-Denis, admire over 50 monumental frescoes and hundreds of graffiti. Launched in 2016, Street Art Avenue continues to grow, with over 50 works today blending a variety of styles and influences. A paradise for all street art and graffiti fans!

Street Art Gallery

Europe’s largest street art avenue awaits you: a unique urban route in France, a veritable open-air gallery, accessible free of charge every day of the year. Created in 2016 to coincide with the Euro in France, this avenue celebrates the artistic heritage of a territory that pioneered the history of graffiti.

Since then, more than 50 frescoes have seen the light of day, mixing a variety of styles and created by local and international artists, but always with the same determination: to bring this unique place to life!

And as Plaine Commune is not short of ambition, Street Art Avenue evolves every year with new works by selected artists. An excellent reason to come back regularly to discover what’s new!

Initiation graffiti and tagging

There are two ways to enjoy Street Art Avenue:

Open access all year round – it’s free and you can discover it at your own pace!

Or take part in our Street Art tours, guided by our local graffiti artists, who will tell you all about the origins of this unique place!

And on certain dates, when the weather’s fine, we’ll even lend you spray paint cans to come and tag our walls!

History of graffiti

Born in the United States in the 60s, graffiti arrived in France in the 70s, before being democratized in the 80s.

This art form quickly found an echo in the 93 district, and today expresses itself through tags and huge frescoes. An artistic heritage that can now be seen in all our cities.

Where is it? I want to go there!

If you like to do things in order: take line 7 or streetcar 3b to 6 quai de l’allier, Paris 19‘, and walk/pedal/flank for 4 km to Place de l’écluse in Saint-Denis!

On the Saint-Denis side, Place de l’écluse is the entry point to Street Art Avenue, accessible via line 13 (Saint-Denis – Porte de Paris station).

But you can start the tour wherever you like, and discover the frescoes along the canal at any time from Saint-Denis or Aubervilliers!
